Welcome!

I am Moataz Salim! I am taking this class so that I can find out and learn more about the media and technology that is found on the internet and how to effectively use the media that is found on the internet to my favor. I am a very frequent internet user and because of this I tend to forget about my digital footprint, and sometimes I miss out on important things that media and the internet in general has to offer. I hope that this class will teach me how to handle media and technology and teach me more about its capabilities, while helping me become a better user.

What is your digital footprint score?

19,325 megabytes

What does your score say about you?

My score says that I have quite a large digital footprint, which is expected due to the fact that I use the internet and online games and online phone applications on a very frequent basis. Also, it shows that I need to know how to better protect myself due to my large footprint.
How could you cut back?

I could cut back by doing numerous things. I heavily use the Internet for video watching and general browsing, up to around 5 hours a day, which significantly increases my digital footprint. Also, I tend to download a lot of movies and I text a lot. Using the Internet in moderation, as well as lessening my downloading of items and lessening of texting, would cut back my score.

What can you do to protect yourself?

Some of the things I could do to protect myself is to only access secure and trusted websites, and only be friends with people I trust on Internet applications. Also, I could use VPNs and other proxy programs in order to hide my identity and thus be less exposed to tracking and any online danger.
